SNSD Yuri 'Bossam: Steal the Fate' Episode 1 and 2 Recap

SNSD Yuri 'Bossam: Steal the Fate' Episode 1 Recap

Synopsis:

Under the rule of King Gwang Hae, widows of the Joseon Dynasty were often stolen in the night and forced to marry their kidnapper, against their will. This practice, known as bossam, was a customary practice employed by those wishing to easily gain a wife and there were those, like Ba Woo (Jung Il Woo) who made their living, stealing these widows for other men.

Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, Ba Woo was forced into hiding at a very young age. Barely escaping with his life, he was forced into hiding. Growing up in abject poverty Ba Woo got by as best he could. Now a scoundrel and a degenerate, with a nasty gambling habit and a penchant for picking fights, Ba Woo wasn’t the marrying type himself; but he had no qualms about stealing widows for other men. Often hired for bossam, Ba Woo never had any troubles stealing a wife, at least not until the day he accidentally kidnapped the widowed princess, Soo Kyung (Kwon Yuri)

Now stuck with the daughter-in-law of his sworn enemy, Ba Woo finds his life taking an unexpected and increasingly complicated turn. Will he be able to free himself of Soo Kyung and return to his old life, or will the presence of a princess lead him down a different path?

A tale of mistaken identities and unexpected love, “Bossam: Steal the Fate” is a 2021 historical romance drama directed by Kwon Seok Jang. - VIKI.com

It's time to enter the Joseon Dynasty era with SNSD's Yuri!

'Bossam: Steal the Fate' Episode 1 Recap

As stated in the Synopsis, Bossam is the practice of kidnapping widows and forcing them to marry their kidnappers during the Joseon Dynasty.  This was what Soo Kyeong (Yuri) was drawing during her first scene in the drama.  While on the other hand, there's Ba Woo (Jung Il Woo), who makes money through this customary practice as also seen in the first few minutes of the drama.

The next day, Sookyung finally had the chance to go out after a long while.  She is headed to the temple to pay respect to her deceased husband but before that, she also dropped by at the city to do an errand for her Aunt.  Aside from the sights and sound that she witnessed in the city, this is also where Sookyung first saw Bawoo; who was in the middle of a fist fight during that time.

The next time Soo Kyung saw Ba Woo was at the field after coming from the temple.  At that time, Bawoo was just standing straight and staring at nothing.  For the second time, it seems he didn't notice or see Sookyung and her court lady again.

Maybe the third time is the charm?  Sookyung and Bawoo finally met but what is this situation?  Bawoo kidnapped the wrong widow and things will get even worse once he knew that the woman she kidnapped is Princess Sookyung.

'Bossam: Steal the Fate' Episode 2 Recap

What will Bawoo do after finding out that the woman he kidnapped was no other than Princess Sookyung?  Meanwhile, after knowing that Sookyung is missing, her Father-in-law will try to resolve it by himself and hide it from the Palace for the time being.

Sookyung's current situation is hard but thankfully, Bawoo's cute son named Cha Dol is there to help and comfort her.

Sookyung promises to not tell anyone if Bawoo just takes her back her to her family but when he was about to return her, Bawoo finds out that Sookyung's Father-in-law made it appear that she committed suicide and they are already hosting her funeral at home.

Trying to see what he can do with the situation, Bawoo decides to kill Sookyung.  After failing, he will then try to sell her.  He did but his conscience won't let him be so he returned and took her back.  This time, Bawoo apologized and promised to help her meet her Father again.  But will it be easy to meet the King?  We'll all find out in the coming episodes!

'Bossam: Steal the Fate' airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:40PM KST.
